How to get a shorter Facebook mobile confirmation code

In the ever continuing saga of people not being able to use their SMS confirmation code from Facebook, a user of mine has submitted a solution on one specific bug; how to get the 8 digit SMS confirmation code to fit into the 6 character field.

Once you enable Facebook's two-factor authentication, which we strongly recommend, Facebook will ask you for a security or confirmation code to log in from a new location or device. Read our guide on two-factor authentication and why you should use it to learn more about this security method. Without two-factor authentication, you only need your username or email address and password to log into your Facebook account.

We went with the Text Message option and entered the six-digit code Facebook texted to our mobile number. You can use a phone number already associated with your account or add a new one. Once you've entered the Facebook confirmation code, click Finish to complete the initial setup.

Code Generator is a convenient way to access two-factor authentication codes without a mobile number. The tool will come in handy when you're traveling or don't have mobile reception. Code Generator is available inside the Facebook app for iOS and Android.

Do you still have access to the mobile phone number you included under two-factor authentication? Maybe your provider could send you a new SIM with the same number. In that case, let Facebook text you a confirmation code. Unfortunately, Facebook can only use that one number for two-factor authentication, even if you've set up other phone numbers under your profile.

You can also access the above recovery route through any browser, on desktop or mobile. Go to m.facebook.com and log into your account using your mobile number, email, or username and password. When prompted for the login code, click Having trouble? > I don't have my phone > Continue.

Consider the following to help prevent Facebook from temporarily locking your account:\u2022 Verify your phone number, email address, and identity. Verifying your details lets Facebook know that you are a genuine user and not trying to impersonate anyone. You can include additional information like the college you attended if you wish.\u2022 Use strong passwords. A strong password means less of a chance of someone guessing your password. Long passwords require more time to crack.\u2022 A naturally aged account. Unfortunately for new Facebook users, in the eyes of Facebook, your account is less trustworthy, as spammers typically use new fake accounts to spam users. Therefore, a new profile is more likely to be blocked than an established one with many friends." } }, "@type": "Question", "name": "How long is a temporary facebook lock?", "acceptedAnswer": "@type": "Answer", "text": "A temporary Facebook lock usually lasts for 24 to 48 hours. A working solution to Facebook confirmation code not working is to NOT use your mobile phone to verify your account. Rather, login to your Facebook using a Laptop or Desktop PC to enter your confirmation code and successfully verify your account.

Alternatively, you can try confirming your Facebook using your mobile phone browser by going to and then your account settings at touch.facebook.com/settings/account/ to follow the self-explanatory direction for confirming your account on mobile.

Facebook uses a security measure called Login Approvals that sends a verification code to your mobile phone each time you use a different computer or device to access your Facebook account. If you want to enable this security feature for your Facebook account, you must configure the Facebook security settings. 2ff7e9595c
